This sets a precedent that government can now forcefully take guns away from an individual without a crime being committed or an arrest being made and without a warrant.

The law in question requires a complaint to be made, a temporary hearing, the police to serve notice to the accused to appear before a judge for a full hearing, and the judge to issue an order before their guns can be taken away for a period of one year (with the possibility of further one year extensions). The law does not allow guns to be taken away without a hearing and the order of a judge.
